As an Assistant Greenkeeper, you will play an important role in maintaining and presenting our premier downland course, contributing to daily preparation, seasonal projects, and long‑term improvements. You will gain hands‑on experience across all aspects of course maintenance and will be supported through on‑the‑job learning and relevant certified training.

Founded in 1908 and later shaped by renowned architect Harry Colt, Tidworth Golf Club is a highly regarded downland course set on the edge of the Salisbury Plain. Candidate Experience, Qualifications & Skills

We are looking for someone with enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a genuine desire to learn and develop within the profession. The ideal candidate will take pride in their work, show attention to detail, and enjoy working as part of a supportive and ambitious team.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Attributes
  • Full, valid UK driving licence – due to the Club’s rural location, public transport is not viable
  • Some experience in a similar role or practical outdoor work environment
  • Keen to learn and develop greenkeeping knowledge, agronomy understanding, and technical skills through on‑the‑job guidance and certified training
  • A positive, ‘can‑do’ attitude with strong motivation, reliability, and willingness to work hard and take pride in the final presentation of the course
  • Attention to detail and a desire to consistently deliver high presentation standards
  • Basic understanding of golf course maintenance tasks, such as:
    • mowing greens, surrounds, tees, fairways or semi‑rough
    • bunker raking and preparation
    • divot repair and general tidying
    • assisting with aeration, top‑dressing and other cultural practices (training provided)
  • Experience using ride‑on mowers, pedestrian mowers, tractors, and handheld tools (strimmers, blowers, etc.) or willingness to learn
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying out hands‑on outdoor work in all conditions
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and bank holidays on a rota schedule
