Position Summary

This position will perform basic testing for chemistry, hematology, parasitology, and urinalysis. The position will also process and analyze specimens received; calibrate and operate instrumentation; and maintain instrumentation as well as provide client and team communication.

Responsibilities
  • Blood chemistry: manage specimen integrity, follow SOP, operational knowledge of instrumentation, review calibrations, controls, and test results.
    Percentage of time: 35%
  • Hematology: routine procedures and maintenance, daily operation, quality assurance, read and verify automated differentials, perform manual analyses, enter and review data.
    Percentage of time: 25%
  • Parasitology: routine preparation of samples for parasitology test setup and identification.
    Percentage of time: 20%
  • Urinalysis: sample preparation and testing with knowledge of urine sediment elements.
    Percentage of time: 10%
  • Quality control: implement QC procedures.
    Percentage of time: 5%
  • Clerical: maintain records.
    Percentage of time: 5%
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of related experience
  • Computer skills required and ability to communicate effectively and professionally
Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2‑year degree, or professional certificate
Physical Demands
  • Periods of sitting/standing performing bench work.
  • Some light lifting.
