Salary Range: $55,000 - $58,000, commensurate with education level and experience

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study
  • Three - five years of supervisory or administrative level experience, preferably in a public library setting
  • Two years direct customer service experience
  • Experience with community partners
Preferred Qualifications
  • MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or Master’s Degree in related field
  • Experience in overseeing facility maintenance
  • Experience with funding agencies and library boards.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • HR experience
  • Understanding of and experience with the PINES Consortium, powered by Evergreen (ILS)
Job Summary

The Tifton-Tift County Library Board of Trustees, in conjunction with the Coastal Plain Regional Library System, is seeking a dynamic, experienced, multi-skilled employee to manage the operations of a busy public library. A successful candidate will have a passion for public service, excellent written and oral communication skills, and well-developed organizational and leadership skills. The Branch Manager is the face of the library in the local community and will interact directly with the Library Board of Trustees, local elected officials, civic groups, and other organizations.

The Branch Manager, with the help of a supportive Board, will be a driving force in the community for improving literacy and promoting life‑long learning for all ages. A successful candidate will have experience in working with diverse groups of people and promoting inclusivity. The Branch Manager will lead 17-20 creative team members and should be intentional in recruiting a diverse staff that mirrors the community.

Typical Duties:

A. Leadership

B. Supervisor
  • Schedules, trains, and evaluates library staff
  • Maintains records of time worked, leave, and other staff activities to ensure compliance with Regional policies, as well as local, state, and federal laws
  • Develops, delegates, and oversees staff projects and tasks designed to meet the goals of the library
  • Cross‑trains staff to perform other duties to assure continuity of excellent service
  • Encourages staff to contribute thoughts and ideas for improving services
  • Maintains open communication with Regional Library Administration and staff
  • Acts as liaison between the Regional Administration and local library board and staff
  • Attends and contributes to Regional staff meetings
