Engineering Manager
SGS & Co and SGK are combining to elevate print, fabrication, and merchandising solutions. We are looking for an Engineering Manager to join our team in Tigard, OR
. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fabrication and production‑focused environment where engineering meets craftsmanship. You'll lead a talented team responsible for bringing creative retail concepts to life through expert project planning, shop floor collaboration, and precision execution.
- Oversee fabrication engineering and production processes
- Partner with designers and project managers to ensure flawless builds
- Lead and develop a skilled technical team
- Streamline operations for efficiency and quality
- Direct local product engineering resources
- Execute new products; research emerging and competitive products; reduce cost and enhance existing products
- Direct department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures
- Provide manufacturing technical & documentation support; resolve problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
- Conferring with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products
- Forecast operating costs of department and direct preparation of budget requests
- Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies that may improve operations and develop recommendations accordingly
- Utilize engineering skills to recommend and implement methods for improving processes, including worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities (e.g., restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating work stations and equipment, purchasing equipment)
- Serve as high‑level release manager on all product releases
- Ensure all internal projects are managed to schedule
- Manage customer crises
- Plan, direct, and coordinate activities of employees to ensure goals or objectives are accomplished; mentor, coach, train and develop team
- Additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
- Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s) preferred
- 8+ years progressive engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years in a leadership role (direct or indirect)
- Occasional travel locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required
- High proficiency with MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications
- Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem‑solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), and planning skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (analysis, interpretation, reasoning)
- Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization and with internal and external clients
- Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented environment
- Ability to work with and influence peers and senior management
- Self‑motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and talk, hear and see
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
U.S. pay range for this position: $85,000–$95,000 annually.
