Job DetailsJOB TITLE: Patient Access Specialist
SUPERVISOR: Front Office Supervisor
HOURS PER WEEK: 40hrs/Non-Exempt (Monday - Friday 9:00am - 6:00pm)
DEPARTMENT: Patient Access
HIRING BONUS: $1,000 after 90 days
Receive patient calls and perform check in/out duties. Provide excellent customer service by scheduling appointments, registering patients, verifying insurance coverages, and assisting with patient inquiries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Rotate between front desk check in and central scheduling phone line functions as assigned.
- Monitor incoming phone calls, register and/or update patient information including address changes, insurance changes, and schedule patients as needed.
- Determine if an incoming call is urgent and transfer to triage nurses/appropriate medical staff. Take phone messages for medical staff and providers when appropriate.
- Verify insurance via appropriate method.
- Collect co-payments and/or other payments from patients as needed.
- Balance daily cash drawer upon shift completion.
- Complete the registration and check in process in clinic for patients as needed.
- Maintain minimum established department call metrics & benchmarks.
- Ability to work under pressure with busy provider schedules.
- Participate as an active team member in a patient-centered medical home.
- Attend ongoing job-related training. Training time may be outside of normal working hours.
- Work respectfully and collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
- Attend all department meetings.
- Maintain regular, in person, work attendance and punctuality, as scheduled.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field
