Compass Oncology, the largest private practice cancer care center in the Pacific Northwest, is looking to add an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at the West Cancer Center in Tigard, OR. The APP/Physician's Assistant will support our medical oncologists in seeing patients, educating them on treatments, and providing general support to maintain the high level of care our patients are accustomed to.

Employment Details

Employment Type:

Full-Time, 32 hours per week or .8 FTE (our current providers in medical oncology see patients 4 days per week in the clinic).

Location:

West Cancer Center, Tigard, OR (12123 SW 69th Avenue, Tigard, OR 97223).

Salary: $113,048 – $204,443 (

Note:

this compensation band is for 1.0 FTE and will be adjusted based on FTE).

Physician Assistant Scope

Under supervision of the physician, provides primary care in a collaborative joint practice with physicians. Supports the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for individual patients.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response within practice protocol; prescribes drug therapies per protocol/physician consultation.
  • Assists physicians and performs procedures as needed; conducts patient assessments and provides physician with information prior to seeing the patient.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
  • Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Promotes/provides staff education.
  • Incorporates evidence‑based research into clinical practice.
  • Knowledgeable of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
  • Completes patient charge tickets.
  • May mentor new mid‑level providers.
Education

Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.

Qualifications
  • Current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification.
  • Current state license as a Physician Assistant in the practicing state.
  • Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification.
Experience and Training

Minimum three (3) years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferred.

Physical Demands

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods; occasionally lifts and carries items up to 40 lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Work Environment

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
