Position Title: REGISTERED NURSE
Department: Special Student Services
Location: Tigard Tualatin School District
Compensation: Per negotiated contract, Licensed Salary Schedule (Range: $56,530. DOE)
FTE: 1.0 FTE
Work Days: 192 per year
Schedule: Mon-Fri; 7:30am-3:30pm
General DescriptionThis position provides nursing care for students. The employee formulates and implements health care plans, conducts student health assessments and collaborates and communicates with families, staff and medical professionals.
Qualifications:Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Required
- Valid Oregon license to practice as a Registered Nurse
- Experience in the use of computer systems and software applications
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED card, epinephrine and glucagon certificates; or ability to obtain certificates in at least 30 days of start date
- Experience working in a hospital, community, or home health clinical setting preferred
- Experience working in K-12 school-setting preferred
- Bilingual and bicultural skills in such common languages to NWRESD preferred
- Valid driver s license and vehicle available for use on the job
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
- Ability to work with very high degree of accuracy and organizational skills
- Ability to exhibit professionalism and effective human relations
- Confer regularly with immediate supervisor
- Demonstrated ability to work with schools, districts and other partners
- Ability to make decisions independently and to use initiative and judgment in accomplishing tasks following overall policies and objectives
- Knowledge of complex and chronic health issues of children
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in professional development activities
Note:

- Formulates and implements health care plans for students, collaborating with families and medical professionals.
- Conducts student health assessments.
- Reviews health conditions in classrooms as needed, assesses care needs, and modifies health protocols or education plans. Consults with physicians and parents to obtain necessary information and convey findings.
- Delegates health-related procedures to staff. Supplies appropriate training and supervision in accordance with state standards.
- Communicates with parents and staff regarding health needs.
- Performs direct nursing as needed (e.g., medication, tube feeding, seizure management).
- Assists in collecting and tracking immunization records and meet state reporting guidelines.
- Participates in IEP/IFSP processes.
- Travel to multiple classroom sites. Make home visits as necessary.
- Provides consultation in educational settings regarding school health needs.
