Contract:
4 years, starting 1 september 2026. Initial temporary contract 18 months, evaluated after ~14 months, then extended 30 months. Full‑time (1.0 FTE).
Job purpose:
Conduct a fully funded PhD project focusing on circular procurement, understanding the role of purchasing in the transition to a circular economy. Research activities will primarily be qualitative, including conceptualising research questions, collecting data, analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data, and publishing results in high‑quality scholarly journals.
- Develop, implement and publish research projects on circular procurement.
- Design and conduct qualitative studies, and where appropriate, quantitative analysis.
- Write and present academic papers, and publish findings.
- Contribute to doctoral training by teaching courses and supervising master and bachelor theses.
- Engage with external partners (clients, suppliers, industry associations such as Nevi) to accelerate the circular transition.
- Academic master, MPhil or research master in operations/supply chain management, technical business administration, or a relevant field equivalent to the listed profiles.
- Excellent GPA, top 10% of class or comparable.
- Strong interest in circularity and procurement; willing to learn qualitative research methods.
- Proactive and independent in launching and conducting research; able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and spoken skills in Dutch and English.
- For candidates with a master from outside Europe: recent GRE or GMAT score (within 2 years).
- Ambition to undertake top‑level research and occasionally teach.
- Full‑time position (1.0 FTE) with salary starting €3,059 gross per month, increasing to €3,881 gross per month in year four.
- Vacation allowance 8%, year‑end bonus 8.3%, more than 8 weeks of vacation.
- Hybrid working model with home‑working allowance (€2 per day) and reimbursement for sustainable commuting (walking, cycling, public transport).
