Position Overview

Tilburg School of Catholic Theology (TST) at Tilburg University seeks a Dean to lead academic and administrative functions of the School. The Dean will oversee academic affairs, research, education, personnel and financial management, and will work closely with the Executive Board and other School deans.

• Provide overall strategic direction for academic programmes and research initiatives aligned with the Strategic Policy Plan 2022‑2027 and future plans.
• Manage educational activities, including curriculum development, academic quality, and compliance with ecclesiastical and university standards.
• Oversee personnel management, budgeting, and resource allocation for the School.
• Represent the School in ecclesiastical and academic contexts, maintaining relationships with the Holy See, the Dutch Catholic Church, and other stakeholders.
• Promote and embody TST’s core values of curiosity, caring, connectedness, and courage.

• Professor level, with a strong background in theology or a related core discipline of TST.
• Demonstrated experience in university-level management and policy development.
• Broad academic perspective across TST’s departments and a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and networking skills.
• Active involvement with the Roman Catholic Church and ability to represent the School in the ecclesiastical context.

The position is a four‑year appointment, renewable for an additional four years, with a minimum 0.8 FTE commitment. Compensation follows the Dutch Universities Collective Labour Agreement (UFO) for Deans, including a Dean’s allowance, holiday allowance, and end‑of‑year bonus.
