Introduction
Would you like to take technical responsibility for complex, customer-specific door projects? As Lead Engineer Doors, you ensure that all technical, organisational and procedural aspects of a project come together.

The projects are large-scale and technically challenging. A single site may contain more than one hundred different doors, each with its own requirements regarding construction, hardware, safety and certification. You will manage multiple projects simultaneously and guide them from the customer approval stage through to detailed engineering and production.

Previous experience with doors is an advantage, but not a strict requirement. More importantly, you enjoy exploring complex technical matters, can interpret engineering standards and are motivated to develop long-term expertise within this specialist field.

Your responsibilities
As Lead Engineer Doors, you maintain the technical overview of approximately ten projects at a time. You manage the scope, coordinate with all stakeholders and ensure that important agreements are documented correctly.

Translating customer and project requirements into technically feasible door solutions;

Overseeing multiple projects throughout the approval, engineering and production phases;

Assessing whether customer-specific modifications comply with applicable safety standards and certifications;

Managing the technical scope and formally documenting changes, approvals and additional agreements;

Developing technical solutions and reviewing drawings and models in AutoCAD and Inventor;

Maintaining technical models and keeping the ERP and PDM systems accurate and up to date;

Coordinating with customers, contractors, suppliers, production teams and internal engineers;

Selecting and assessing door hardware and other technical components;

Developing solutions that fall outside existing product standards;

Identifying technical risks and involving additional expertise when required;

Potentially taking on project management responsibilities as the position develops.

This technical organisation develops and delivers bespoke solutions for complex industrial environments. Engineering, production and installation are brought together within the organisation, allowing you to remain closely involved throughout the entire process—from design to final delivery.

Its specialist doors are used in large-scale projects where construction, door hardware, fire safety, safety standards and certification all come together. Due to the wide variety of customer and project requirements, virtually every solution is different.

You will join a professional yet informal working environment with short lines of communication between engineering, production, suppliers and customers.

Purpose
As Lead Engineer Doors, you translate complex technical requirements into safe, manufacturable and properly documented solutions. You bring structure to projects, manage key decision points and ensure that agreements and changes are not lost between customer approval and production.

In doing so, you make an important contribution to the technical quality, safety and manageability of large-scale projects.

Your profile

A higher professional education level, preferably in Mechanical Engineering;

Experience in technical engineering within a project-based environment;

Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor;

Experience with a PDM system, preferably Autodesk Vault;

The ability to read, interpret and apply technical standards;

Strong scope-management skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously;

Clear communication skills and a structured approach to documenting agreements and changes;

A precise and disciplined approach to drawings, models, ERP and PDM systems;

The ability to remain thorough when deadlines and delivery times are under pressure;

The judgement to ask for support or involve additional expertise at the right time;

Preferably Dutch language skills due to close cooperation with production and Dutch-speaking customers.
