Job Description
Location: Port of Tilbury London Ltd, Leslie Ford House
Job Title: Purchase Ledger Administrator
Hours: 20 hours per week across 5 days (Part Time)
Compensation: £16,000 per annum (pro‑ratio)
The Role
Within the Central Finance Team, this part‑time role is responsible for ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately and payments are made on time, supporting the smooth running of the finance function. It maintains supplier relationships, accurate financial records, and effective control of company expenditure.
Key Responsibilities- Process supplier invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Match invoices to purchase orders where required.
- Prepare supplier payment runs and help ensure payments are made on time.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice or payment queries.
- Maintain accurate purchase ledger records.
- Liaise with suppliers, internal departments, and the Finance Clerk to resolve issues quickly.
- Support month‑end tasks, including checking outstanding invoices and accrual information.
- Help meet team targets for accuracy, timely processing, and prompt query resolution.
- Assist management and the finance team with any other ad hoc duties.
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a purchase ledger or similar accounts payable role.
- Good understanding of invoice processing, supplier payments, statement reconcilations, and query resolution.
- Confident using finance systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with suppliers, internal departments, and the Finance Clerk.
- Good organisational skills with ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and prioritise tasks.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Team player, maintaining a professional approach when dealing with queries.
- Full UK driving licence and UK working rights.
