Accounts Assistant

Hexagon Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected and fast-growing Transport & Logistics company based in Thurrock for a motivated Accounts Assistant with strong Xero software experience.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business. You’ll play a key role in keeping the numbers running smoothly behind a successful logistics operation.

As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll be responsible for:

• Managing purchase and sales ledgers in Xero
• Processing invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and efficiently
• Completing bank reconciliations and ensuring financial data is up to date
• Assisting with credit control and supplier queries
• Preparing weekly and monthly financial reports
• Supporting month-end tasks, including accruals and journals
• Assisting with VAT returns, payroll prep, and expenses
• Working closely with the Transport and Operations teams to support smooth financial processes

• Experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Administrator, or similar
• Confident user of Xero accounting software (essential)
• AAT Level 3 qualified or above
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation skills
• Solid understanding of purchase/sales ledger and reconciliations
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
• Clear communicator — professional and confident with colleagues and suppliers

• Previous experience in the Transport or Logistics industry
• Knowledge of invoice factoring, subcontractor payments, or fuel card reconciliation

• Competitive salary: £28,000 – £35,000
