Contract type: Zero‑hour contract / Full time & part‑time hours available
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic Support Worker to support our service user to live an independent life and to enjoy social activities in the community.
About the RoleOur service user lives in his own tenancy with 24‑hour support. A typical day will include support with medication, personal and oral care, and ensuring that appropriate clothes are selected for the day ahead. He can make choices regarding his meals but requires support to prepare his food and serve it to him.
Our Support Workers experience variety and a huge sense of reward and achievement in their daily activities where no two days are the same. We place a huge emphasis on the fact that our customers are individuals; at Mears Supported Living we feel everyone deserves to be treated as such.
About ThemThe service user has an acquired brain injury, pleural plaques and poor mobility. He is able to mobilise with the use of his walking frame within his home but will use a wheelchair when accessing the community. Due to the acquired brain injury conversation can be repetitive, so patience is a must.
This is a 1‑to‑1 support service at home with the aim of getting him out into the community. He has his own mobility car, so we are looking for someone that has a driving licence so this can be utilised.
He is an easy‑going gentleman who would like to get out in the community when he can. Accessing the community could be limited as he cannot sit for long periods of times and does not like busy places like shops, cafés etc, so quieter places are preferred. Family is very important to him and visits regularly.
