Pharmacy Customer Service Associate

Walgreens is seeking a Pharmacy Customer Service Associate to provide exceptional customer service while supporting pharmacy operations at our retail locations.

Base Pay Range

$16.00/hr - $18.00/hr

Responsibilities
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
  • Register sales on assigned cash register, providing courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.
  • Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations; use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Share customer service best practices with all team members, demonstrating interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
  • Recommend items for sale and trade‑up or companion items.
  • Process voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges as needed; assist customers to the OTC aisle when possible.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean, well merchandised, take inventory, and maintain records; check in and price merchandise as directed.
  • Use pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, verify medication accuracy, check for interactions, assist with scheduling, and maintain workflow.
  • Report prescription errors immediately and comply with Company policies, the Quality Improvement Program, and the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere strictly to Good Faith Dispensing policy during all prescription dispensing activities.
  • Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including physician calls.
  • Process manual claims for third‑party prescription programs efficiently.
  • Support inventory management activities (ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals); file claims for overages, shortages, and damaged goods.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages, tobacco).
  • Construct and maintain displays, promotional, seasonal, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist with food item separation and placement per policy; perform stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out method.
  • Maintain knowledge of store systems and equipment.
  • Provide customer service in the photo area, including digital passport photo service, poster print, and creative machine; suggest promotional photo products.
  • Assume web pickup responsibilities (monitor orders, pick items, deliver orders to customers).
  • Assist exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat store condition.
  • Comply with all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated program or state‑required certification.
  • Attend training and complete PPLs assigned by the Manager or corporate; acquire continuing education credits and stay current on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control.
  • PTCB certification.
