In collaboration with staff radiologists, this job assesses patients and safely performs routine CT procedures in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures and protocols. This job is a clinical mentor for junior staff and students.

Required:

Completion of a formal training program;
Radiologic Technology program in an AMA approved school

Required:

None

Preferred: 2 years experience as a CT Technologist

Required:

Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT);
Licensed by the Louisiana State Radiology Technology Board of Examiners;
Advanced certification in CT required within 2 years of employment;
Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.

• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.
• Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language.

• Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy.
• Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care.
• Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding.
• Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV).
• Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards.
• Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performs notification/remediation as warranted.
• Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.).
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy and effective communication about services or procedures.
• Other related duties as required.
