Temporary Chief Accountant

The City of Timmins is hiring a Temporary Chief Accountant until March 2028. This role focuses on supervising financial operations and enhancing operational excellence through strong accounting practices.

In this position, you will oversee the Payroll and Accounts Receivable sections while preparing essential financial reports. Collaborating with the Director of Finance, you will manage subsidy applications and ensure proper budget policing for various city departments.

Your role includes representing the Financial Services Department on municipal committees and participating in the Continuous Improvement Program.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee Payroll and Accounts Receivable sections

• Maintain internal controls and proper accounting records

• Prepare HST remittances and financial reports

• Assist Director in budget preparation and management

• Act as Financial Services representative on committees

Requirements:

• University degree in Commerce or related discipline

• Required professional accounting designation

• At least four years of management experience

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

• Clear Criminal Record Check required
