SummaryResponsible for inspecting construction materials (aggregates, concrete, asphalt) and workmanship to ensure compliance with specifications, while conducting field and laboratory testing, including compaction testing and asphalt coring. Maintains accurate documentation, reports non-conformances, supports site coordination with clients and contractors, and ensures equipment and laboratory standards are upheld.
Primary Scope of Role- Inspect the quality of construction materials (aggregates, concrete, asphalt).
- Monitor material placement and workmanship.
- Execute field and laboratory tests on materials.
- Perform compaction testing using a nuclear densometer.
- Conduct asphalt coring for thickness and composition analysis.
- Prepare and collect aggregate and asphalt samples.
- Perform visual inspections of roadways.
- Ensure accuracy of test data.
- Review documents and specifications.
- Maintain daily checklist diary and site activity logs.
- Report non-conformance issues to management.
- Participate in site laboratory meetings.
- Liaise with clients and contractors.
- Maintain laboratory and testing equipment in good condition.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of testing equipment.
- Diploma/Degree - Civil Engineering Technology / Construction Management an asset.
- Previous industry or relatable experience an asset.
- Knowledge of OPSS/ASTM/MTO LS testing procedures an asset.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Teamwork oriented.
- Ability to work independently.
- Highly organized.
- Mobility to work out of town when needed.
- Available to work on different shifts and schedules (including nights and weekends).
- Attention to detail and problem solving.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Expected base salary: $22-$26 per hour (actual base salary will depend on experience, qualifications, internal equity, work location and market expectations).
