Côté Gold is being developed in partnership with the Mattagami First Nation, Flying Post First Nation and Métis Nation of Ontario, Region 3.

The open‑pit gold mine is a joint venture between IAMGOLD and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co. Ltd. and is operated by IAMGOLD. We are located near Gogama, Ontario, with access to stable infrastructure and strong connections with local communities.

The Mining Technologist (Surveyor) will support the design, implementation, and optimization of mining operations by collecting and compiling operational data. This role requires technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and a deep understanding of mining processes, bridging theory and practice to ensure efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

Area 1: Efficiently and effectively carry out daily tasks

  • Assist Technical Services in implementing drilling and blasting, geotechnical, planning and geological quality assurance and quality control protocols.
  • Conduct regular surveys utilizing GPS and 3D scanning to efficiently and accurately collect and compile Mine Operations data.
  • Prepare and compile collected data and records to improve operational performance.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment.
  • Provide technical support to mine engineers and stakeholders by conducting analyses, preparing reports, and contributing to design and planning.
  • Collaborate with engineers, geologists, and mining personnel to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and resolve technical issues.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and consistency, implementing quality control measures and conducting inspections.
  • Document and report any deviations from quality standards.
  • Assist in training staff on quality assurance and control procedures.

Area 2: Operational excellence

  • Collaborate with technical services and production teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure all mining operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards, promoting a safety culture.
  • Seek and implement best‑in‑class practices.
  • Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills.
  • Propose and improve designs to address process constraints while remaining cost efficient.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost optimisation within operations.
  • Consider risk across five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability, cost).
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves

  • A college degree or technical diploma in Mining, Civil, Geotechnical or Geology Technology or related discipline.
  • ASET registration as a C.E.T. or T.T. designation.
  • Preferred:
    Drone Pilot Certificate – Basic or Advanced Operations from Transport Canada.
Work experience – Nature & Length
  • 3–5 years of related work experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience with a variety of surveying methods.
  • Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
  • Ability to follow safety protocols.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Familiarity with industry‑specific quality standards and regulations.
