The Opportunity:

Join a collaborative Ground Engineering team tackling geotechnical challenges across Northern Ontario (North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins, or Thunder Bay). What you can expect to do here
  • Assist in the growth of WSP
    ’s Geotechnical Engineering presence in Northern Ontario by growing our private, public sector and indigenous community geotechnical engineering client base and project portfolio.
  • Lead and manage geotechnical engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Facilitate site investigations, soil and rock sampling, and geotechnical analysis.
  • Prepare and review geotechnical reports, designs, and recommendations.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Participate in business development activities, including proposal preparation, client meetings/presentations, team development, as well as site visits across Northern Ontario.
  • Stay current with advancements in geotechnical engineering and incorporate new technologies and methodologies into projects.
What You’ll Bring To WSP
  • Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant (post-degree) working experience in geotechnical engineering, with a focus on consulting and/or project management.
  • A track record in business development, including a strong existing client base is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in customer services, client management and proposal/report writing.
  • Strong technical knowledge in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, slope stability, and ground improvement techniques.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical software and tools.
  • Strong technical writing, interpersonal communication, and emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • An Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Sense of initiative, attention to detail & team spirit.
  • Commitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues.
