The Exploration Core Technician Lead supports the geological team by overseeing all core handling activities and guiding the work of the Core Technicians. This role is responsible for coordinating diamond drill core processing, ensuring accurate geological data collection, and maintaining high standards in core sampling. With a strong focus on safety, organization, and quality control, the Lead plays a key role in upholding best practices in core management, sampling workflows, and QA/QC across all exploration programs.

• Coordinate and oversee the daily receipt of drill core, ensuring timely and accurate delivery from drilling operations to the core shed.
• Lead and verify the accuracy of all core identification details, including hole IDs, core‑tray labels, and depth markers provided by drillers.
• Supervise and complete core preparation for geological logging, ensuring consistent marking of meter intervals, identification of core loss zones, and adherence to established preparation standards.
• Oversee and take part in preparation of sample tags after geological logging, ensuring sample breaks are clearly and accurately marked.
• Conduct and supervise core sampling activities based on geologist‑generated cut sheets, ensuring samples are correctly labeled, bagged, and include all required QA/QC materials.
• Maintain an efficient workflow throughout the core shack, providing direction, support, and task coordination for Core Technicians.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of drilling and sampling consumables, ensuring adequate stock of core trays, blocks, sample bags, markers, and Certified Reference Materials.
• Coordinate with the assay laboratory to manage periodic sample transport and appropriate storage of pulp materials.
• Ensure accurate daily entry of drilling data into spreadsheets and support geologists with additional tasks as required.

• Minimum completion of Secondary School Diploma
• Valid "G" driver's license
• 5 years minimum experience in a similar type role with strong knowledge of how an exploration core shack functions.
• 5 years exploration/mining experience, preferably within gold exploration/mining environment.
• Physically fit, willing and able to work indoors and outdoors.
• Working knowledge of MS software applications such as Excel, Word.
• Familiarity with Vancon core saw an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Industry-standard training in First-Aid and WHIMIS.
