Position Overview
The Senior DCS/PLC Specialist will be responsible for the provision of automation services to support assigned area and site-wide operational and maintenance business objectives. The role will also provide design/programming support for automation systems and ensures site obligations are met regarding health, safety, environmental protection and sustainable development.
Key Responsibilities- Primary role is to monitor, maintain, troubleshoot and optimize PLC/DCS controls, interfaces, and communication throughout the concentrator and site.
- Assist with troubleshooting communication issues with various instruments and electronics throughout the site
- DCS Programming, Hardware Tasks and PLC Programming tasks
- Support operational and maintenance requests, plant modifications, and PI Process Book data as needed
- Maintain PI tags on system as well as PLC and DCS tags.
- Generate and maintain automated communication on systems alarm setpoints and errors
- Identify critical spares requirements, service contracts, and obsolescence issues.
- Troubleshoot problems with Fieldcare and Profibus device programming and configuration
- Update electrical/instrumentation drawings as required
- Support HSEC activities for new equipment installations and modifications.
- Maintain critical controls on key environmental systems.
- Identify plant deficiencies through daily diagnostic checks and seek technical support where required.
- Provide cost management and reduction where possible.
- Provide Technical training and coaching for trades, operations, and tech support resources as required.
- Maintain programming standards for the site.
- Utilize professional and technical specialist services as required to support efficient problem investigation and resolution
- Diploma or Graduate degree
- 3-5 years of Mine/Mill Experience or in related field
- Strong knowledge and experience with PLC/DCS programming and configuration
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written skills
- Computer skills and experience in preparing reports to perform and present data analysis
Monday to Friday, 8 .5 hour days. Kidd Operations reserves the right to modify working schedules as necessary, in accordance with applicable notice requirements and labor regulations.
We offer a competitive wage and bonus plan complemented by a comprehensive range of benefits. Wage will vary depending on experience, education and certification. $91,000.00 - $ annually. Candidates must ensure that progressive, sustainable improvements within the department are consistent with business objectives and our health, safety, environmental and community policies.
