JOB OVERVIEWOntario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior Project Controls Specialist.
In this leadership role, you will play a key part in delivering major hydroelectric dam refurbishment projects that are critical to Ontario’s clean energy future. You will lead a team responsible for driving planning, scheduling, and cost control excellence across complex, high-impact infrastructure projects that modernize and sustain OPG’s hydroelectric fleet.
This is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale, legacy projects while influencing best practices, mentoring teams, and supporting long-term energy reliability for the province.
KEYACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and support the overall performance of the Project Controls function as part of the management team
- Drive the development and optimization of systems for cost forecasting, resource planning, and project performance tracking
- Establish and enhance standards, processes, and best practices for planning, scheduling, and cost control
- Oversee integrated project controls across cost, schedule, and resources to support effective project delivery
- Provide strategic advice and decision support to leadership on project performance, risks, and opportunities
- Champion continuous improvement and innovation in project controls practices across the portfolio
- Guide and support project teams on complex planning, scheduling, and cost control challenges
- Lead, mentor, and develop team members, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and growth
- 4 year degree in project management, business, engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Strong expertise in project controls, including planning, scheduling, cost management, and forecasting
- Demonstrated experience across full project life cycles, including design and construction environments
- Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, reporting tools, and data analysis
- Experience across project life cycles, including design, construction, rehabilitation, and modification
- Proven ability to apply trend analysis, forecasting, and risk management techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and with diverse stakeholders
- Experience supporting hydroelectric or large-scale infrastructure projects, with an understanding of refurbishment, modernization, and lifecycle management of generating asset
