Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer

Shape the world around you by leading mechanical HVAC design on multidisciplinary mining, metals and industrial infrastructure projects. Drive design from concept to detailed engineering, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver sustainable, efficient, and safe solutions.

Location:

Ontario – ideally Northern Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical HVAC engineering design packages from concept development through detailed engineering, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop mechanical HVAC systems, specifications, calculations, and deliverables that support safe, reliable, and high‑performing operations for mining, metals, and heavy industrial clients.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical design with process, structural, electrical, controls, and construction requirements.
  • Review designs, drawings, and engineering documents to ensure quality, constructability, and adherence to industry codes and best practices.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to intermediate and junior engineers, supporting team growth and capability development.
  • Engage directly with clients, contractors, and internal partners to solve complex technical challenges and advance project delivery.
Skills & Qualifications
  • University Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • At least 15 years of mechanical engineering experience in mining and heavy industrial projects.
  • Experience with flue gas, dust collection, and ventilation ducting is an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Canada, or eligibility for one.
  • Proven experience solving real‑world engineering challenges, from equipment specification to system design and integration.
  • Comfortable working in the field or on site as required, with strict adherence to safety requirements.
  • Working proficiency with mechanical design and modeling tools, and a commitment to continuous technical growth.
Compensation
  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800
  • MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400
  • NB, NL, NS, PEI & QC: $111,000 – $147,400

The final salary awarded for this role may vary based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
