We are currently seeking a Data Innovation & Development Specialist to support the mine and mill’s operational data and reporting ecosystem—maintaining reliable datasets and dashboards (PI Vision, Power BI) and delivering practical analytics and automation within site governance. This role focuses on data and reporting software (not PI tag/asset configuration). This role is based at the Côté Gold Mine Site reporting to the IT OT Superintendent.
Responsibilities- Sustain mill reporting data layers and dashboards to deliver trusted, timely operational insights.
- Maintain reporting databases and data access layers (e.g., SQL, PI) that feed standard KPI reporting.
- Develop and support queries, views, procedures, and refresh schedules to ensure consistent, performant datasets.
- Troubleshoot and reconcile data quality issues end-to-end with IT/OT and site SMEs.
- Maintain and enhance PI Vision and Power BI dashboards (visuals, measures, filters, access) and support user adoption.
- Apply governance practices for reporting services, including testing, release/rollback, KPI definitions, data dictionaries, and audit‑ready lineage.
- Monitor and respond to data/report outages, manage access in line with cybersecurity/data classification, and coordinate fixes with vendors as required.
- Build and support small, governed analytics and automation in Microsoft Fabric (dataflows/pipelines/notebooks), including light production support and controlled changes for mining system reporting integrations.
- Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Post‑graduate qualification or certifications in data platforms, database administration, business intelligence, or reporting tools is desirable.
- Relevant vendor or industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft data/BI, SQL, AVEVA PI/PI Vision) and participation in technical communities are considered an asset.
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience supporting operational data systems in an industrial environment (e.g., processing plant/mill), including reporting databases, historian data access, and front‑end dashboards/reports (PI Vision, Power BI, or similar).
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts (e.g., query optimization, views, stored procedures) and experience delivering reliable datasets and semantic models for analytics and reporting.
- Experience with modern analytics platforms (e.g., Microsoft Fabric) and related development patterns (data pipelines/dataflows, notebooks, lakehouse/warehouse concepts) is an asset.
- Strong data analysis and troubleshooting capability, including validating, reconciling, and clearly explaining operational KPIs and data flows from OT systems through to reporting.
- Experience developing and supporting dashboards and reporting solutions (e.g., PI Vision, Power BI), with an understanding of data models, refresh behaviour, and end‑user needs.
- Knowledge of analytics, automation, and Microsoft Fabric concepts, with an interest in applying governed solutions (e.g., dataflows, pipelines, low‑code workflows, or AI use cases).
- Solid understanding of governance and change control practices for reporting solutions, including testing, deployment, documentation, data privacy, and cross‑functional collaboration to drive adoption.
- Comprehensive Health Coverage – Extended health, dental, and insurance benefits for peace of mind.
- Flexible Spending Power – Health & Personal Spending Accounts to fit your evolving needs.
- Support When It Matters – Employee & Family Assistance Program for life’s challenges.
- Future‑Ready Savings – Registered Pension Plan with company match, plus TFSA & RRSP options.
- Shared Success – Employee Share Purchase Plan with company match—because we grow together.
