Reporting directly to the Manager of Digital Workplace & Service Delivery and working closely with the Police Modernization Portfolio Manager, the Computer Technical Support position will assist in maintaining a high level of technology service delivery to employees of the Timmins Police Service and perform various tasks related to resolving issues in the Police Service’s Computer Information Systems.
Responsibilities- Provide personal computer help‑desk support, responding to hardware and software requests, troubleshooting, installing approved software on personal computers or network servers and setting up hardware in a variety of operating environments such as MS Windows and Linux.
- Support and maintain the Voice Over IP telephone system.
- Assist in ensuring efficient use of computer system resources, maintaining system and data security, identifying network performance issues, and coordinating with vendor service personnel.
- Maintain technology support systems for anti‑virus management, system deployment, and operating‑system update management.
- Provide operational support for the enterprise infrastructure environment of the Timmins Police Service.
- Offer technical assistance and liaise for information systems projects.
- Maintain the IT asset portfolio management system.
- Assist various departmental functions as required.
- Participate in IT support shift work and on‑call service delivery schedule.
- Maintain and troubleshoot in‑car systems such as cameras, audio, and software.
- Minimum of a two‑year community college diploma in computer studies or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of personal computer systems, servers, mobile devices, smartphones, and applications.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of internetworking technologies and trends in an enterprise environment.
- Demonstrated advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere and other enterprise‑level virtual environments.
- Knowledge of ITIL principles and processes (ITIL 4 Foundation certification preferred).
- Knowledge of Axon and Verkada would be an asset.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical problems.
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies and practices.
- Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Two years of computer operations experience in an MS Windows environment or equivalent.
- Current, clear Criminal Record Check.
- Valid G Class Driver’s License.
