Purpose and Scope of Position:

Dumas seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to support procurement activities across the organization. The Buyer will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, parts, supplies and equipment in accordance with established purchasing policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will work closely with operations, maintenance, finance, project teams and suppliers to ensure purchasing requirements are fulfilled accurately, efficiently and cost-effectively. This role is ideally suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates sound judgment and can build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.

Qualifications and

Experience:

  • Two-year college diploma in Business or an equivalent combination of education and training.
  • PMAC (Purchasing Management Association of Canada) courses would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in a Buyer position.
  • Knowledge of mine materials, equipment and maintenance parts.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles, inventory management, and budgetary practices.
  • Advanced knowledge of Sage, Guide and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.

Procurement and Purchasing

  • Be responsible for all procurement and purchasing activities for assigned projects.
  • Analyze purchasing requirements to obtain favorable pricing, delivery times and terms for regular purchases and blanket orders.
  • Coordinate procurement activities and obtain competitive quotations for direct-charge items and materials.
