Job Summary

Canadian Shield Health Care Services seeks outgoing, kind, and ambitious Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) to join our Home Care Division in the North Bay and surrounding areas.

This role offers opportunities for individuals of all experience levels, including newcomers and those returning to the health care field, with the chance to receive valuable training and mentorship from our highly qualified team.

Candidates should carry the required qualifications and credentials to be considered for interview.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $26.50 per hour

Qualifications
  • Nurse Certification
  • Active CNO
  • Tuberculosis Skin Test Step 1 & 2 (valid within the last 2 years)
  • Criminal Record Check – Vulnerable Sector (valid within the year)
  • Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care per the client’s care plan, including assessments, medication administration, wound care, and symptom monitoring
  • Support clients’ physical, emotional, and functional well‑being while promoting dignity, safety, and independence
  • Apply infection prevention and control practices in line with policies and provincial guidelines
  • Collaborate with clients, families, and healthcare teams to coordinate and adjust care plans
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records and share updates only with authorized personnel
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a healthcare team
  • Physically able to stand, bend, squat, kneel, and reach, and able to lift up to 23 kg as needed for client care
  • Able to travel locally between client assignments
  • Proficient in verbal and written communication in English;
    French language skills are considered an asset
