Discovery Kidd has an exciting opportunity for a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).

Reporting to the Health and Hygiene Supervisor, the Registered Practical Nurse provides emergency care for all occupational injuries and non-occupational illnesses and provides health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health.

The incumbent will be responsible to:

• Provide a wide variety of nursing services, and to document nursing care given
• Provide emergency nursing care for all occupational and non-occupational injury or illness
• Provide continuing nursing care to hasten recovery
• Provide individual health monitoring and teaching to maintain and promote health
• Assist with research for WSIB claims as required
• Schedule employees for medical surveillance and testing
• Perform respirator fit testing, audiometry, pre-placement assessments
• Maintain computer records, and maintain proper filing of medical reports
• Serve as first-line emergency response
• Perform a number of other non-medical duties

The ideal Candidate will have:

• A valid Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario, CPR certification, and Administration of Medications certification.
• First Aid and Audiometry certification is desirable but will be provided if necessary.
• Previous nursing experience is essential.
• Capable of working independently in a self-directed manner and comfortable working in a confidential manner and controlling confidential material.
• Capable of responding to emergency situations quickly and calmly, and of directing non-medical personnel during emergencies.

Competitive total compensation package including:

• Company contributions and matching into a Defined Contribution Pension Plan; and
• Annual compensation of CAD $63,000 to CAD $80,000.
