To assess, plan, implement and evaluatepatient care according to the standards of nursing practice of the Collegeof Nurses of Ontario and according to the policies and procedures of Timminsand District Hospital.
Position Requirements :- Mustbe a graduate of a diploma or baccalaureate (BScN) nursing program.
- Must possess a current Certificate of Competence issued by the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Aminimum of two years current experience in the Operating Room.
- Musthave the ability to perform independently all skills published in the Standards of Nursing Practice, and the learning ability to achieve competency in advancedskills.
- Mustbe able to demonstrate performance and current competency in IV therapy,central line management and arterial line management.
- Must possess the ability to understand and apply nursing principles and techniquesassociated with pre, intra, and post operative care.
- Must have had at least one dose of the COVID vaccine.
- Starting salary of $41.15/hour; $80,242.50/year (As per Step 1 of the ONAcollective agreement.) ranges to 58.98/hour; $/year (As per Step 8 ofthe ONA collective agreement.)
- Option to enroll into Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan.
- Abilityto function independently as a float nurse, scrub nurse and circulating nursefor all surgical procedures and specialties.
- Abilityto provide after hour coverage on a rotational basis.
- Mustbe knowledgeable of the working of the OR, PACU and Urology suites, and able toprovide coverage as required.
- Must possess excellent assessment skills in order to recognize and anticipatepatient needs.
- Must possess superior aseptic technique and understand the underlying principles.
- Must possess the ability to assess high risk situation and perform confidently andcompetently.
- Must possess excellent finger dexterity for manipulation of instruments and equipment.
- Must possess visual and aural acuity to detect changes in patient condition, orreaction to drugs and treatment.
- Must possess excellent eye-hand coordination.
- Demonstratedclinical leadership, self-direction and motivation.
- Musthave the ability to communicate effectively with physicians, staff, vendors,and to articulate both orally and in writing.
- Good health and sufficient strength to lift and transfer dependent patients, and to independently transport patients via stretcher.
- Mustbe in good health to enable regular attendance at work and performance of allduties in the OR.
- Abilityto fulfill all requirements of the position description.
- Employment history must demonstrate regular attendance at work.
