Resource Worker
Full-time Position in Timmins


As a member of the Child Care team, your primary responsibilities will be to assist, support, and recruit families to become foster parents and promote Foster Care and Adoption services to the community. The Resource worker is required to assess the suitability of foster and adoptive applicants for children in care, provide standardized training, assess and support Kinship cases and work collaboratively with foster families, Kin Parents, service providers and other professionals to address the service needs of the client.

Additional responsibilities include completing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment tools and instruments within the child protection domain, and provide intervention services to children and youth in care and their families.

Job Requirements (Qualifications and Skills):

  • A Master’s Degree in Social Work, or a Baccalaureate in Social Work is preferred.
  • A College Diploma in Social Services may be considered along with other relevant university degrees or diplomas deemed suitable by the Executive Director;
  • Experience working with children, youth and families is considered an asset;
  • Able to interpret and apply relevant legislative requirements including, but not limited to the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and Ministry standards;
  • Excellent knowledge of community services, resources, and processes regarding access and referral to services;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills;
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as required;
  • Must be willing to travel as required;
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset; and
  • Must have a valid G driver’s license and use of own vehicle.

En tant que membre de l’équipe de bien-être de l’enfance, les principales responsabilités seront d’aider, de soutenir et recruter des familles pour devenir des parents d’accueil et de promouvoir les services de familles d’accueil et d’adoption à la communauté. Le travailleur de ressources ou la travailleuse de ressource doit évaluer les aptitudes des candidats de famille d'accueil et d'adoption pour les enfants pris en charge, fournir une formation standardisée, évaluer et soutenir des cas de garde d’enfants par un proche et de travailler en collaboration avec les familles de ceux-ci, les fournisseurs de services et d'autres professionnels afin de répondre aux besoins de service du client.

Les responsabilités supplémentaires comprennent d'effectuer des évaluations à l'aide de divers outils et outils d'évaluation dans le domaine de la protection de l'enfance et de fournir des services d'intervention aux enfants et aux jeunes pris en charge ainsi qu'à leur famille.

Exigences de l’emploi (qualités et compétences requises):

  • Une maîtrise en travail social ou un baccalauréat en travail social est préféré. Un diplôme collégial en travail social et autres dégrée ou diplômes peuvent être considérée, jugés convenables par le directeur général.
  • De l’expérience de travail auprès des enfants, des jeunes et des familles est considérée comme un atout.
