RESTORATIVE JUSTICE/YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH COURT PROGRAM WORKER/ATTENDANCE CENTRE WORKER
Location:
Kapuskasing, Ontario (travel throughout the NEOFACS Cochrane Catchment area as required).
Position:
Six (6)-month full-time contract.
As a member of the Youth Justice Team, the Restorative Justice/Youth Mental Health Court/Attendance Centre Worker will provide support to youth in a variety of capacities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: providing support to youth aged 12 to 17 who are in contact with the criminal justice system and presenting with mental health needs, illness or disorder; establishing effective linkages between the youth in conflict with the law, the Youth Justice Court and appropriate community mental health and justice resources;
providing a host of cognitive, life‑skills, and recreational programs to young persons who are in conflict with the law in an effort to prevent recidivism; and facilitating the development, planning and implementation of the Restorative Justice initiatives and services within the Agency.
- Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Law and Justice or Social Work is preferred. Community College diploma in Social Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker may also be considered.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying the legislative acts, regulations, and policies of the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills as they relate to youth and families.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as required.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required.
- Candidates must possess a minimum G2 driver’s license at the time of application and be willing to obtain a valid G Class driver’s license as a condition of employment or already possess a valid G Class driver’s license and have access to their own vehicle.
