Location: Kirkland LakeAddiction Support Worker - Permanent Part Time
The Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Timiskaming Branch is currently recruiting an Addictions Support Worker for its Recovery Centre in Kirkland Lake.
In keeping with the Mission, Vision, Values of the Canadian Mental Health Association - Cochrane Timiskaming Branch (CMHA-CT), the Addictions Support Workers (the Workers) are members of a multi- disciplinary team who play key roles in the coordination of care and services for clients who are affected by addictions, mental illness, dual diagnoses and/or concurrent disorders. The Workers recognize and respect the individuality and uniqueness of each client, including their needs, values, beliefs, and choices.
Qualifications:A college diploma in one of the core mental health disciplines is preferred. Other levels of relevant education with experience in the mental health and addictions fields may be considered;Registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers would be considered an asset;ASIST training is considered an asset;Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation related to the role;Experience working in the mental health and addictions fields;Knowledge and understanding of the complex issues related to addictions, mental illness, poverty, and homelessness, as well as the impact of social/cultural/economic factors on the determinants of health;Understanding of and ability to work within professional and ethical guidelines;The ability to engage and work with a broad age group of clients with diverse and complex issues;Ability to meet tight deadlines and work in a fast-paced, often pressured, environment;Strong crisis and suicide intervention skills;Valid driver's license from the province of Ontario and use of a reliable vehicle for work purposes;Clear vulnerable sector police check.CMHA-CT offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package including the HOOPP pension plan and most importantly, CMHA-CT offers a fulfilling career working with a dynamic team, supporting and caring for others.
