COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEAM /RESTORATIVE JUSTICE/YOUTH MENTAL
HEALTH COURT PROGRAM/ATTENDANCE CENTER WORKER
Full-time Position in Kapuskasing (with travel throughout the NEOFACS Cochrane Catchment area as required)
This position will be a member of the Youth Justice Team, and the primary responsibilities include but are not limited to; providing intervention and support services to young persons involved in the youth criminal justice system. This includes providing intervention services that focus on reintegrating the youth into community, developing social skills and increasing a youth’s ability to cope, problem-solve and regulate with their emotions.
The successful candidate will also deliver least-intrusive, community-based interventions through restorative justice processes, court-ordered attendance programming, and mental health diversion. The goal of the services is aimed at assisting and support youth and families to promote accountability, rehabilitation, mental wellness, and community safety.
JOB REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS):
- Bachelor's degree in Criminology, Law and Justice or Social Work is preferred. A College diploma in Social Service Worker or Child and Youth Worker may also be considered.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in interpreting and applying the legislative acts, regulations, and policies of the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) and Youth Criminal Justice Act.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as they relate to youth and families.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as required.
- Must be willing to travel as required.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is required.
- Candidates must possess a minimum G2 driver's license at the time of application and be willing to obtain a valid G Class driver's license as a condition of employment or already possess a valid G Class driver's license and have access to their own vehicle.
