The Axel Group is currently hiring a skilled Accountant for a position that offers a competitive compensation package and the chance to develop your finance career within a collaborative team environment. Our client is a top waste and recycling company in NJ and this position will report directly to the Assistant Controller.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accurate and complete financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries to record daily financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other related activities.
• Assist in the preparation of comprehensive financial statements such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Participate actively in month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations, accruals, and the preparation of supporting schedules.
• Support internal and external audit processes by preparing schedules, providing necessary documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in accounting and/or finance roles.
• Strong technical proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
