Responsibilities- Screen patients for state Medicaid, charity care, and marketplace assistance and complete applications face‑to‑face or by phone.
- Ask screening questions and determine eligibility for financial assistance.
- Analyze documentation such as bank statements, tax forms, and attestations to ensure compliance with state regulations.
- Use online insurance eligibility systems to confirm eligibility for assistance.
- Answer telephone calls promptly and courteously using approved greeting and scripting.
- Check voicemail messages within one hour.
- Enter data accurately into the state of New Jersey Presumptive Eligibility/New Jersey Family Care systems and send confirmations to patients timely.
- Approve or deny all charity care applications within 45 days of submission.
- Scan all applications and supporting documentation into HMH document imaging system in audit‑ready order.
- Complete required daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
- Collaborate with patients and HMH departments to ensure successful reimbursement.
- Provide on‑site support during patient screenings and attend Get Covered NJ Certified Application Counselor events as required.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency with workflow queue systems, patient management systems, document imaging, PDF creators, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and web applications.
- Strong customer service skills and verbal communication.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel to other HMH sites within the region when needed.
- Bi‑lingual (Spanish).
- One or more years of experience with NJ Charity Care regulations, NJFC program, or related financial assistance programs.
- Presumptive Eligibility (PE) certification at hire, and maintain updates/re‑certifications.
- Certified Application Counselor certification through State of NJ Get Covered NJ upon hire and maintain via annual recertification.
Minimum hourly rate $23.97. HMH offers a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and retirement benefits.
