JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary:
The Engineering Technology Co‑op Student provides mechanical and/or electrical testing support in the development of new components and products as well as in the improvement in performance, reliability and cost of existing components and products. This individual will work with engineering technicians and design engineers daily, participating in the setup, execution, data collection and reporting on engineering test. In this role, the Co‑op Student will:
- Perform testing to support customer requests and inquiries.
- Participate in development projects by executing concept validation, design qualification and manufacturing validation testing including documentation.
- Participate in reliability testing for new product development launch programs.
- Support product sustainability engineering and agency teams through test execution.
- Exposure to electrical and mechanical build up and teardowns.
- Exposure and experience in working with global cross‑functional teams.
- Participate in training, specifically, onboarding, safety training, monthly lab training, soldering training and specific equipment training as applicable.
Skills:
The ideal candidate will have an aptitude for learning about and using mechanical and/or electrical design tools to develop new designs and optimize those that already exist. Good listening, communication and technical comprehension skills are required to develop successful designs in a team environment.
- Currently pursuing an Associate or Bachelor’s in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or a relevant Engineering field.
- No experience required.
- Good verbal and written communication skills among global and cross‑functional teams, with a high attention to detail.
- Basic mechanical skills and understanding of hand tools.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work toward a specific action plan, based on priority.
- GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Self‑directed work ethic. A positive, can‑do, whatever‑it‑takes attitude.
