Project Background and Job Overview:
This position is for a Systems / Human Factors Engineer. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will support the Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) project at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) for NASA, which involves designing and constructing a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS).
You will interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design. The candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, and the desire to innovate designs.
- Establish means of verifying requirements implementation, including acceptance criteria
- Prepare system and facility design criteria documents
- Document and process Human Factors findings
- Perform walkdowns of hardware to verify human factors requirements are properly implemented
- Review design products for implementation of Human Factors Principles
- Assess hardware against established Human Factors requirements
- Document and process Human Factors findings
- Support system-level design verification, requirements verification, test requirements specification, and requirements flow down and traceability
- Perform impact analyses for proposed requirement changes
- Perform assessments to validate and verify implementation and traceability of requirements into design
- Participate in technical discussions to resolve system design issues
- Research and document system operations and limits from the review of design and basis documents and from discussions with system designers
- Demonstrate leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills
- Participate in and foster a work environment based on openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards, and design criteria pertinent to systems engineering and human factors
- Skill in oral and written communication
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering or related field with at least 9 years of relevant technical experience, or 15+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
- Must have or be able to obtain Engineer-In-Training (EIT) within 12 months of hire
- Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearances as required
- Awareness of national codes and standards, environmental regulations, and their influence on design
- Experience facilitating multi-discipline meetings to resolve technical and requirements compliance issues
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check
- Construction site familiarity
- Familiarity with implementation of requirements in design
- Experience performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis
- Experience with MIL STD 1472G DOD Design Criteria Standard – Human Engineering
- Experience with HF-STD-001 FAA Human Factors Design Standard
