The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
ResponsibilitiesAreas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:
- Provide practical application of engineering skills to perform flight and ground system fluid engineering projects that meet stakeholder expectations, system functional requirements and NASA program requirements.
- Support the design, development, test, and commissioning of various fluid Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and Ground Support Systems (GSS).
- Ensure fluid components comply with relevant codes and standards such as OSHA, ASME B31.3 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
- Prepare conceptual reports, perform feasibility studies, technical assessments, cost estimates and requirements development in support of new design projects and existing system design modifications.
- Identify replacement parts for obsolete components.
- Produce and develop essential engineering documentation, reports, sketches of models or drawings that are required to complete or troubleshoot a viable system.
- Support design review presentations or speak intelligently on technical issues and solutions.
- Interface with customer representatives and manage completion of tasks on schedule and within budget to the customer's satisfaction.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least 10 years of experience and/or an advanced degree.

Job Requirements
- Experience with the design and sustaining of fluid systems, in Aerospace, Nuclear, or Oil and Gas are highly desirable.
- Knowledge of latest ASME B31.3, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel code, and API standards for fluid systems is highly desirable.
- Experience in any of the following is highly desirable:
Pipe Stress analysis (Ceasar II or Auto Pipe), NASGRO, Fluid flow analysis software (AFT: Arrow, Fathom, Impulse). - Ability to read drawings, schematics, and specification charts highly desirable.
- Knowledge or experience with GSE and GSS supporting launching spaceflight vehicles is desirable.
- Functional knowledge of Maximo, Solumina, or other similar work authorization tools is desirable.
- Micro Station / CREO or other related CAD software experience is desirable.
- Experience with Windchill and other product lifecycle management software systems is desirable.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must be able to present information to upper management and customers.
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and only general guidance.
- In-depth computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
- May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
