The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Responsibilities- Perform engineering tasks in support of the Flight Auxiliary Power Unit / Hydraulic systems engineering group.
- Candidate will perform engineering work on a team to accomplish assembly, servicing, test and launch of NASA's Space Launch System in support of the Artemis program.
- Assignments will range from installation, maintenance & operation of ground systems supporting SLS launch to development of ground application software and procedures used during ground processing and vehicle launch of NASA's SLS.
- Candidates will be required to apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation. Additional responsibilities include system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow.
- Candidate will be expected to accomplish testing & operations independently, and act as Task Team Leader for assignments involving APU/Hydraulics engineering related teams.
- Candidate will contribute to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned.
Candidates will possess a BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Aerospace Engineering or Physics from an accredited engineering school. Additional relevant education may be substituted for a portion of the experience. Aircraft / Spacecraft / Launch Vehicle processing background a plus. Hydraulic system and/or turbine system operation and maintenance experience a plus.

- Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
- Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.
- Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.
- Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
- Must be able to work in tight confined space areas.
- All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
- Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
- Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.
- Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility.
- Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database logs and records, print documents and record work performance.
- Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.
- Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week.
- Must be dependable and punctual.
- Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule.

- Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.
- Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.
