Medical Assistant – Phlebotomist
Location: Titusville, Florida
Pay: $16 to $17 per hour
Hours and Setting:
- Monday through Friday
- 8 am – 5 pm
- Outpatient only
- Adult patient population
- Primary care internal medicine and infectious disease support
Benefits:

Position Summary:
The Medical Assistant with phlebotomy experience supports providers and daily clinic operations in an outpatient setting. This role includes both clinical and administrative responsibilities such as patient intake, specimen collection, assisting with exams and maintaining accurate medical records. The ideal candidate is comfortable with phlebotomy, enjoys patient interaction and has experience in a fast‑paced outpatient clinic.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare patients for exams by obtaining medical history, vital signs, and chief complaints
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood draws
- Label and prepare specimens for laboratory processing
- Administer injections and immunizations as directed and within scope
- Assist providers during exams and procedures
- Perform EKGs, point‑of‑care testing, and collect blood, urine and swab specimens
- Clean stock and prepare exam rooms between patients
- Greet patients and assist them in a professional and compassionate manner
- Educate patients on basic treatment instructions, testing and follow‑up care
- Address patient questions and elevate concerns appropriately
- Follow infectious disease safety protocols and specimen handling standards
- Document vitals, procedures and lab collections accurately in the electronic health record
- Assist with scheduling referrals and care coordination as needed
- Process lab requisitions, track results and notify providers of abnormal findings
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA and infection control standards
- Collaborate with providers, nurses and front‑office staff to support clinic flow
- Participate in quality improvement efforts and follow clinical protocols
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
- Phlebotomy experience required
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- BLS or CPR certification, or ability to obtain
- One or more years of outpatient Medical Assistant experience preferred
- Background in primary care internal medicine or infectious disease preferred
- Strong venipuncture and specimen handling skills
- Strong phlebotomy skills with focus on patient comfort and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment
- Proficiency with electronic health records and basic computer skills
- Reliable, detail‑oriented and team focused
