We are currently seeking two full-time Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Jail-Based Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program — one for the day shift and one for the evening shift. This role provides essential nursing care to individuals receiving MAT services for substance use disorders within a secure correctional setting. The MAT RN plays a critical role in supporting recovery, improving health outcomes, and ensuring continuity of care during incarceration and re-entry.
Key Responsibilities- Administer MAT medications (including buprenorphine and naltrexone) in accordance with provider orders, facility protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct nursing assessments, medication monitoring, and ongoing evaluation of individuals enrolled in the MAT program.
- Monitor for withdrawal symptoms, side effects, adverse reactions, and overall treatment effectiveness.
- Provide patient education regarding MAT, medication adherence, substance use disorders, and recovery resources.
- Collaborate with medical providers, behavioral health staff, case managers, and custody staff to ensure coordinated and safe care.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in the electronic health record.
- Assist with intake screenings and MAT eligibility determinations.
- Support discharge planning and coordination with community-based MAT providers upon release.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including DEA and SAMHSA requirements.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and program development efforts.
- Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
- Minimum of one (1) year of nursing experience required; correctional, behavioral health, or substance use disorder experience preferred.
- Knowledge of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and addiction medicine preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment, assessment, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a secure, fast-paced correctional environment.
- Proficiency with electronic health records.
- Current CPR/BLS certification required.
