Apprenticeship – Engineering Maintenance Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a four-year Engineering Apprenticeship programme at Heathcoat Fabrics, working towards a Level 3 Engineering Maintenance Technician qualification.

This is an excellent opportunity for motivated individuals with a genuine interest in engineering to gain hands‑on experience with the UK’s leading technical textile manufacturer.

From day one, you will become part of our experienced engineering team, receiving high-quality mentoring, structured training and real workplace responsibility while developing the practical and technical skills needed for a successful engineering career.

During the apprenticeship, you will gain experience across a variety of engineering disciplines and manufacturing environments, including:

• Learning how to maintain and service industrial plant equipment
• Diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical faults
• Repairing and improving production machinery
• Applying Heathcoat’s quality and safety standards to protect people, products and processes
• Working across several areas within our manufacturing site, including Mechanical, Electrical and Utilities departments
• Developing strong problem‑solving and teamwork skills in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are keen to learn, work collaboratively and build a long‑term career in engineering.

Applicants should have:

• GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English, plus either Maths or Science
• A demonstrable interest in engineering and technology
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn
• The ability to travel to college for day release when required

On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will have developed the skills and confidence to:

• Take ownership and accountability for engineering equipment
• Carry out complex fault diagnosis and repairs
• Work safely and effectively within an advanced manufacturing environment
• Support and coach others with technical knowledge
• Achieve a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification alongside valuable industry experience
