We are seeking Professional, High Energy Scribes/Medical Assistants to help us provide excellent quality of care to our patients.
Company description: Aspire Dermatology, with twelve conveniently located offices throughout Rhode Island, is a highly professional provider of a full range of dermatology services from skin screenings and cosmetic procedures to Mohs surgery. The Scribe/Medical Assistant is a multi‑functional role, providing clinical and other administrative duties to ensure excellent quality of care to patients while reporting to the Office Supervisor.
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours, Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (or similar hours, must be flexible)
Pay rate range: $20.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on education, certifications, and experience.
Responsibilities of the Scribe/Medical Assistant- Assist with daily tasks such as verifying patient information, recording medical history, confirming purpose of visit using an iPad, data entry into EMR during patient visits, answering phones, confirming insurance information, scheduling appointments, etc.
- Assist with preparing patient for exams and procedures, preparing equipment & instruments using proper sterilization techniques, and providing education to patients on pre‑ and post‑operative care instructions.
- Cleaning and sanitising rooms, equipment and instruments as needed.
- Maintaining inventory and supplies for clinical areas.
- Answer triage and routine phone calls from patients, pharmacies and referring providers.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
- Verify demographics, insurance, prior authorisations & referrals, collect deductibles, co‑pays & co‑insurance, balance cash drawer and reconcile end of day.
- Enter lab results, call patients, and answer patient calls regarding medications, prior authorisations and lab results using EMR software.
- Apply skills interchangeably to all areas of medical practice and work efficiently with various computer programs including Microsoft Office and popular browsers.
- Commutable to all Aspire offices as needed and participate in a minimum of a four‑office rotation.
- Graduate of a Medical Assisting Program or Medical Assistant Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) OR at least 1 year’s experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Knowledge of medical terminology/anatomy preferred.
- Familiarity with CPT/ICD‑10 coding.
- Strong computer and customer‑service skills.
- Typing speed of 40 WPM while maintaining spelling and grammar proficiency (typing test will be given).
- Reliable transportation is a must.
- Attention to detail and ability to apply skills across all medical areas.
- Ability to understand and apply policies, procedures and protocols.
- Professional communication with patients, providers, supervisors and peers.
- Calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Influenza vaccination is mandatory.
The employee must be able to sit; stand, use hands, reach, walk, climb stairs, balance, push and pull heavy objects such as wheelchairs, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, crawl, twist, pinch, write, type, grip, speak, hear, and smell. Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
