POSITION SUMMARY
Set up, operate, or tend machines to coat or paint any of a wide variety of products lacquer thinner, epoxy, urethane, rubber, and varnish. Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Must be able to use all types of respirators.
- Observe machine gauges and equipment operation to detect defects or deviations from standards and make adjustments as necessary.
- Determine paint flow, viscosity, and coating quality by performing visual inspections.
- Weigh or measure chemicals, coatings, or paints before adding them to machines.
- Select appropriate coatings, paints, or sprays, or prepare them by mixing substances according to formulas.
- Set up and operate machines to paint or coat products, paint, or rustproofing materials.
- Turn dials, hand wheels, valves, or switches to regulate air pressure and circulation, and the flow or spray of coatings or paints.
- Start and stop operation of machines, using levers or buttons.
- Record operational data on specified forms.
- Start pumps to mix solutions and fill tanks.
- Operate auxiliary machines or equipment used in coating or painting processes.
- Fill hoppers, reservoirs, troughs, or pans with material used to coat, paint, or spray, using conveyors or pails (proper containers).
- Perform test runs to ensure that equipment is set up properly.
- Clean machines, related equipment, and work areas, using water, solvents and other cleaning aids.
- Attach hoses or nozzles to machines, using wrenches and pliers, and make adjustments to obtain the proper dispersion of spray.
- Remove materials, parts, or work pieces from painting or coating machines, using hand tools, cranes, lifts, or carts.
- Transfer completed items or products from machines to drying or storage areas, using handcarts, hand trucks, or cranes.
- Attach and align machine parts such as rollers, guides, brushes, and blades, using hand tools.
- Examine, measure, weigh, or test sample products to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Cross train in all paint booths as needed.
- Hold or position spray guns to direct spray onto articles.
- Able to obtain and operate lift truck
- Operate grinders, deburrers, sanders, and portable shot blaster as needed.
- Place items or products on saw horses, stands to coat, paint, or spray them, using hands, hoists, or truck lifts.
- Able to do body repair work as needed.
- Keep work area clean. Help clean, organize and maintain paint house.
- Paint small items and perform touch-up painting, using paint brushes, rollers, and gravity guns.
- Comply with established safety policies and procedures. Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as directed. Use appropriate tools designed for their specific job tasks. Provide feedback related to hazard assessments and/or accident investigations.

Education

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED):
Required
Associate Degree (two year college or technical school) Preferred, Field of Study:
Industrial Painting or Auto Painting and Collision Repair
Experience
: 1 plus years of experience in Painting
Computer Skills

Certifications & Licenses
:
Forklift, confined space training.
Other Requirements
:
Perform all other duties as required by supervision. Must be able to wear respirator. Overtime as required.
Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position
Ability to stand, bend, and grasp for prolong periods of time.
Ability to manually manipulate, reach outward, reach above shoulder, and squat or kneel.
May exert up to 25 lbs. of force, lift 11-50 pounds occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENTManufacturing shop floor environment. Cold in winter, hot in summer.
