Harbor Point Behavioral Health Center offers intensive residential treatment services within a secure setting. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of youth ages 7-17 who are experiencing emotional, psychiatric, and educational difficulties. In addition to our general psychiatric programs, we also offer specialty programs for youth with more serious challenges. Harbor Point and its programs are fully accredited by The Joint Commission and the Virginia Association of Independent Specialized Educational Facilities.
We are licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and the Virginia Department of Education. We are a TRICARE®-approved and certified facility.

Job SummaryWe are hiring a full‑time Milieu Manager to provide clinical leadership and oversight of direct care staff in our secure residential environment.
Responsibilities- Provides clinical leadership and supervision to direct care staff.
- Works in association with the DON, CEO and Director of Clinical Operations to ensure consistency in care provided by the residential care staff and the clinical staff.
- Implements programming and provides ongoing training and supervision to create and maintain a safe and therapeutic milieu.
- Coordinates and assigns direct care staff to the units and facilitates accurate communication among flex pool staff.

Must possess demonstrated leadership ability, excellent communication skills with diverse groups, strong oral and written communication, knowledge of therapeutic relationships as they relate to adolescents, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management of aggressive behavior and CPR. An individual must be able to perform each essential function of the job satisfactorily. EducationPrefer a Bachelor’s degree in social work or psychology. Minimum of a high school diploma or G.E.D.
Licensure/CertificationHandle with Care, CPR and First Aid.
ExperienceA minimum of two years of experience working in a residential facility for children, of which one year must be supervisory. Five years of experience working with children is preferred.
Physical RequirementsMust be able to verbally de‑escalate and physically restrain when necessary. Ability to exercise self‑control in potentially volatile situations such as being verbally or physically confronted in a threatening or aggressive manner; must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another;
must be flexible and not easily frustrated in dealing with differences of opinion. Individual must be able to remain on his/her feet for long periods of time. This position requires frequent walking around the building to supervise staff or assist staff during a crisis. Ability to express and exchange ideas via spoken word during activities in which they must convey detail or important spoken instructions to others accurately, sometimes quickly and loudly.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips. Hearing to perceive the nature of sound with no less than 40 dB loss @ 1000 Hz, and 2000 Hz with or without correction;
