Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Jones & Henry Engineers is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate to perform general accounting duties and provide accounting support to the Senior Accountant. This position will assist in the implementation of departmental operations and utilize the accounting software. All duties shall be performed in such a manner as to maintain accuracy and confidentiality in all aspects.

Responsibilities:- Maintain accounting records and files including making copies, filing and scanning documents in accordance with company policies, accounting standards and State and Federal laws
- Maintain accounting databases by entering data into the computer accounting software
- Perform all functions of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, payroll taxes (monthly, quarterly, and annually), journal entries, depreciation schedules, year-end W-2’s and 1099’s
- Handle payments for various employee benefits due to employee payroll with holdings such as 401k plan, child/spousal support, garnishments and insurance policies
- Process reports such as payroll, projects, billing, aging, and accounts payable
- Maintain accurate payroll records within the accounting software at all times as provided by the Human Resources to ensure accuracy
- Maintain accurate tax records including withholding taxes and tax tables
- Assists in cross training within the accounting department to ensure backup responsibilities have been addressed
High school diploma (or equivalent) with 2 years of accounting experience. Associate degree in Accounting preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:- Knowledge and ability with computer-based business accounting packages
- Knowledge and ability with Microsoft Suite
- Basic knowledge of accounting and regulatory requirements
- Ability to work with a range of individuals in a professional and cooperative environment including working with firm principals, firm officers, assigned supervisor and project managers
- Ability to balance demands from multiple directions while maintaining productivity and attention to detail
Full‑Time, Exempt
Salary Range:$50,000 - $65,000
