Area Manager, Business Operations Manager

Reports to: Director of Operations.

Grid Hawk LLC () is a premier provider of utility locating and other damage prevention services. Its mission is to keep communities safe by preventing damage to underground infrastructure. The company offers full‑stream outsourced asset damage‑prevention and mitigation services and solutions on behalf of utility companies, driven by a seasoned team of industry executives and advanced technology, including the proprietary Keystone 811 ticket routing and workforce management system.

The Area Manager is fully accountable for leading and driving a team to achieve key performance measurements including OTP, efficiency, and quality, while ensuring compliance with client, state, and company safety regulations.

• Lead and provide the team with direction, focus, and support.
• Oversee daily scheduling of contractors and sub‑contractors.
• Route tickets to ensure optimized efficiency.
• Develop a game plan to achieve daily production targets and provide help if needed.
• Review prior day’s documents and reports.
• Review daily expectations and safety messages and adjust as needed.
• Audit documents.
• Ensure all documents correctly comply with client regulations.
• Establish client quality assurance and resolve issues when needed.
• Verify timesheets and confirm team attendance.
• Provide expertise on all job tasks including observing, locating, marking, and documenting pipeline locations underground and exposed.
• Dispatch and guide team members in assignments such as auditing, locating, verifying, and fixing problems for utility clients’ plants.
• Engage employees daily to ensure they have the tools, equipment, and support to perform their jobs.
• Assist with the continued training and proper use of equipment for new hires and existing team members.
• Work with Corporate Support staff to communicate needs for LOA covering recruiting, training, development, finances, employee relations, safety, and IT.
• Perform other duties as needed and assigned by higher level managers.

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical prints at a high level.
• Ability to teach and demonstrate proper techniques.
• Ability to resolve conflicts between team members.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Multiple years of locating and pipeline technician experience.
• 2–3 years of supervising locating and pipeline technicians.
• Documentation of excellent quality ratio in the locating industry.
• Pass a background check with no violations within the last 3 years.
• Pass a DOT drug test.
• Complete a background check with no violations within the last 5 years and pass a drug test.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
• Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
