This position requires the clinical instructor to oversee student clinical treatment as well as assist and evaluate the student’s technical skills in assessment, dental hygiene diagnosis, care planning, instrumentation, evaluation of care and documentation. The instructor must be knowledgeable in current trends in dentistry and must provide high quality instruction. The instructor must have a demonstrated knowledge of and integration of appropriate practices of teaching to different learning styles.
The instructor must demonstrate calibration in clinical and assessment skills. Manage a clinical section, including organizing and presenting material, demonstrating skills and activities that will facilitate student learning, and monitoring student behavior and performance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
This position requires clinical and/or online instruction in the discipline. The instructor must be knowledgeable in current trends in dentistry and must provide high quality instruction. The instructor must demonstrate clinical and assessment skills.
This position requires the individual to have strong skills in the following:
1. Written and oral communication.
2. Problem-solving.
3. Critical thinking.
4. Computer use, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and/or other required programs, Blackboard, and Owens email.
5. Tactile and fine motor skills.
6. Excellent clinical skills (including: assessment, diagnosis, implementation/demonstration skills, planning, evaluation) 7. Teamwork This position requires the individual to have the ability to: 2. Integrate a variety of methodologies in order to facilitate student learning.
3. Understand the needs of community college students.
4. Manage a clinical section, including organizing and presenting material, demonstrating skills and activities that will facilitate student learning, and monitoring student behavior and performance.
5. Follow instructions and meet deadlines.
6. Recognize students’ strengths and weaknesses in the discipline and to provide feedback to students in such a way as to facilitate their learning.
7. Evaluate student work fairly using Department guidelines.
8. Master communication skills with students and clinical patients
ENGAGESINOTHERDEPARTMENT-RELATED ACTIVITIES
1. Attends Department and College workshops, training sessions, and development activities as needed.
2. Attends Department and College meetings as necessary.
3. Participates in student learning assessment activities.
4. Performs other departmental duties, as assigned.
Attends teaching methodologies courses annually to comply with Accreditation Standards. Faculty must also take continuing education related to the course in which they are teaching to comply with the Commission on Dental Accreditation Standards.

Minimum Education /
Experience:
Must have taken teaching methodologies courses. Has worked in the field for 2 years. Must take continuing education related to the course in which they are teaching. Must participate in clinical calibration sessions following accreditation standards.
