We are looking for a Campus Bursar to perform general accounting and business office duties with a strong emphasis on student support regarding ledgers, payment plans, and collection of documents. The Campus Bursar will assist the Central Support Bursar’s Department to ensure students’ needs are met in a timely manner and will be cross‑trained in Financial Services to prepare students financially for enrollment.
Schedule24 hours per week (three 8‑hour days, 10 AM–5 PM).
Responsibilities- Review campus‑specific financial aid reports regarding PFEs to set up payment plans.
- Initiate, implement, and deliver student deferred payment plans (DPP) to students.
- Initiate, implement, and deliver student TILA forms to students.
- Collect and maintain all student payment plan documents into the student management system.
- Maintain weekly communication plans to the students and campus leadership on progression to be financially ready.
- Manage and assist with student inquiries regarding payment plans, balance due, and ledgers.
- Review during break weeks revised PFEs.
- Assist in weekly collection reporting for student payment plans.
- Conduct accounting receivable interviews with current students and students who have been readmitted.
- Provide financial literacy for students regarding payment options and payment plans. When necessary, resolve problems and questions with students regarding student finances.
- Contact and initiate the settling of student account balances in escalated or special situations.
- Collaborate with campus leadership on the financial readiness of students and identify at‑risk students due to non‑responsiveness. Effectively communicate with campus staff and students to achieve financial documents in a timely manner.
- Provide students with accurate information regarding the application process, loan counseling and their eligibility for state and federal financial assistance, contracts and/or institutional payment plans.
- Inform students of their financial obligation, and how this obligation can impact their enrollment and progression through the program.
- Connect students with potential resources for financing the student’s education.
- Advise students of their obligation to provide accurate information and the potential consequences related to their application and funding process.
- Update appropriate systems to ensure the timely processing, funding, billing, and collections of the package selected.
- Monitor and follow up on the status of all applicable student funding sources and ensure potential payment plans are aligned with the student’s funding sources.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Develop and maintain College bursar policies, procedures, documents, and best practices.
- Assist in audit preparation and provide information and access to accounting records as required.
- Bachelor's Preferred
- Two years accounting/financial experience or equivalent education and experience
- Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Knowledge of office procedures and equipment
- Knowledge of PCs and appropriate software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact diplomatically with a variety of individuals at various organizational levels.
- Ability to identify moderately complex administrative issues and problems and resolve or escalate to appropriate individual.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices
- Knowledge of basic budgeting procedures
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Aptitude for accuracy and detail
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work on simultaneous projects at once.
