Description
Provide high-quality instruction to students and work collaboratively with the school leader, colleagues, students, parents, and the board to accomplish or surpass the academy's articulated educational goals. Work as a collaborative team member to implement the academy curriculum and achieve short- and long-term academic goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning; develop and enforce classroom rules; collaborate on school-wide behavior management initiatives.
- Plan lessons that meet students’ needs, align with state and school curriculum standards, and include clear objectives.
- Develop and submit lesson plans for review; collaborate with instructional coaches to improve instruction quality.
- Work with special education staff to support students with special needs, including implementing accommodations and modifications per IEPs.
- Participate in programs to support diverse learners, including those with special needs, at-risk students, and English language learners.
- Maintain accurate records, ensure confidentiality, and complete necessary documentation for compliance.
- Communicate regularly with parents, encourage participation, and be available outside normal hours.
- Maintain professional development through conferences, coursework, and involvement in professional organizations.
- Identify and request instructional resources; participate in team activities and school improvement efforts.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching or clubs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- State teacher licensure/certification with appropriate endorsements.
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant subject area or equivalent experience; non-certified applicants must plan to become highly qualified.
- Commitment to student success and achievement.
- Proven teaching or tutoring experience, with strong parent and student relations skills.
